Volume 4. Hasidic and klezmer Music from the An-ski collections (1912-1914).
   Збір хасидської та інструментальної музики був одним з пріоритетів перших єврейських етнографічних експедицій, які досліджували єврейські оселища в Російській імперії між 1912 і 1914 роками. Організовані та керовані видатним етнографом і письменником Семеном Ан-Ським (1863-1920) за фінансової підтримки барона Володимира Горациєвича Гінцбурга (1873-1932) та під егідою єврейського історико-етнографічного товариства Санкт-Петербурга, учасники експедицій відвідали понад 65 населених пунктів Київської,   Волинської губерній та Поділля, де їм вдалося провести детальні дослідження традиційного ашкеназського способу життя, орієнтованого на усний фольклор та музику, архітектуру, мистецтво та ремесла, релігійні практики та заняття.
Ці експедиції мали принципово важливе значення для сучасної етнографії східноєвропейського єврейства, і їх результати були сенсаційними. Під час експедицій було зібрано тисячі унікальних артефактів, рукописів, фотографій, народних казок, історій та легенд. Видатна кількість музичних матеріалів була записана на 500 фоноциліндрів з використанням фонографічного обладнання; Учасники експедицій також придбали копії або оригінальні рукописні альбоми з кантеріальною, клезмерською музикою та народними піснями з місцевих мешканців.
Музика з колекції Ан-Ського є пам'ятником хасидської музичної традиції України у всіх його музичних стилях: молитвах, багатомовних паралітурних піснях, мелодіях без слів та мелодій, що супроводжуються скрипкою. Великий експеримент, який Ан-Ський та його колеги здійснили між 1912 і 1914 рр., дали багато нагород і скарбів, які вони зібрали в численних селищах Російської імперії, і залишаються безцінним подарунком для майбутніх поколінь.
